The beautiful Peacock Iris – A special South African bulbous plant coming into growth in autumn, with its grass like foliage and flowering in spring from naturally small bulbs,¬† with their stunning three petalled iris like flowers with a distinct peacock eye on 30 – 40cm stems. They require a well drained sunny situation or are great for growing in a container so the small bulbs do not get lost. The bulbs need to be kept dry during their summer dormancy¬† The bulbs have been taken from a mixed clump of Moraea villosa and Moraea aristata so either species could be included in the mix hence the term ‘Lucky Dip”. These plants are just coming into seasonal growth.
