BERKHEYA PURPUREA
For the lovers of something different. This unusual plant makes a rosette of spiny foliage not unlike a large thistle. The plant makes a long, single taproot and forms a dense clump of prickly foliage tight on the ground. The large green leaves arranged in a rosette and the leaves are up to 30cm long with wavy edges and a beautiful white downy underside. The flower stem arises to around 75cm tall and are clad in 10cm wide lavender pink sunflower like blooms over a long period. A drought tolerant plant for a sunny well drained situation.
